Junius Starks Jr. was born on Wednesday, February 21, 1962, in Montgomery, AL to Junius and Gloria Starks. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology - Electrical Engineering at DeVry University, Atlanta, GA, and worked in IT support with various companies (Data General, SEATS, The Coca-Cola Company, Cisco and finally as a Sr. Network Engineer with Delta Airlines. He enjoyed working at Delta and amassed many friends that loved and respected this gentle giant of a man.
As a child he experienced damage to his left ear and lost most hearing in that ear. He also dealt with a speech impediment as a child for which he received therapy at a young age. He was picked on by some children in school on a regular basis however, he was resilient, and determined to not allow that to dampen the quality of his life. He thrived and grew into the most kind and gentle man determined to enjoy life and succeed at all he did. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and earned top secret security clearance as a new Airman. His first tour of duty was in Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon discharge from the Air Force after serving several years, he served in the Air Force Reserves, in Atlanta, GA.
He was an active member of World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia where he was a member of the choir. He was an avid football fan, and his love of the Alabama Crimson Tide was unmatched.
If you had the opportunity to meet him you knew he was never at a loss for words. He enjoyed talking to anyone and he never met a stranger. If you gave him a minute, you would be engulfed in a long conversation about any and everything. He was a prolific talker and according to him, well versed and knowledgeable of any and every topic. He often would challenge your point of view by searching the internet to prove his point was accurate and (your’s/mine/ours) was not. He was tenacious and would rarely surrender to your point of view. He loved miniature Schnauzer dogs, and will be missed by his current little one, Iggy. His mark on the lives of everyone he met was profound, and his absence on this earth will be greatly missed.
Junius Starks Jr, passed from earth to Heaven on July 5, 2024, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Junius Starks Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 32 years, Wanda J. Starks, son Kyler Starks (Amanda); mother, Gloria J. Starks; two sisters, Miranda Chennault (Fred), and Panolar Starks Grubbs (Donald) ; father- in- law, Theodore W. Sanders Sr.; sister- in- law, Pauline Cleaver; brothers-in-law, Theodore W. Sanders, Jr (Nicole), and Raymond D. Sanders (Tonya); one loving aunt Lynetta Momon (Ronald), and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves countless friends and family who were blessed to know him.
He would encourage all to accept Jesus, as Lord of their lives. By doing so you will have the opportunity to see, love and debate our gentle giant of a man once again in Heaven.
Thank you all for loving the most precious, Son, Husband, Father, and Friend as we celebrate his life.
Love to all,
Wanda, Kyler, and Amanda Starks
