December 10, 1953 – October 5, 2026
Mr. Larry Wayne Womack, age 72, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5th, surrounded by his loving family and in the compassionate care of Family Hospice in McDonough, Georgia.
Larry was born in Rochelle, Georgia, on December 10, 1953, to the late Ambrose Floyd Womack and the late Lula Mae Davis Womack.
Larry was a hardworking man who spent his life working with his hands. No matter the job, he took pride in what he could build, repair, restore, and make better. He had a special gift for taking old things and making them new again. Whether it was repairing and restoring a lawnmower or bringing a damaged car back to life, Larry could look at something others might have given up on and see what it could become. His hands were always busy, and there was always something for him to tinker with.
Larry shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Hope. Their love story began when Hope was just 13 years old, and they were married in 1974. Together, they built a life filled with love, challenges, laughter, perseverance, and an enduring commitment to one another. Their marriage may not have been perfect, but their love was strong, steadfast, and unconditional.
Larry was a devoted father and a proud grandfather. His daughter, Michelle, held a special place in his heart, and his grandchildren, Faith and Landon, were truly the apples of his eye. He treasured every moment he spent with them and loved watching them grow.
Larry never met a stranger. He had a generous heart and would do anything he could to help someone in need. And if he couldn't help, he was sure to point them toward someone who could. That was simply who Larry was—someone who cared, someone who helped, and someone who made people feel like they mattered.
When he wasn't outside tinkering with something, Larry could often be found brushing his beloved cat, Walter, whom he adored. He also enjoyed watching old westerns, his favorite game shows, and WWE wrestling. These simple pleasures brought him happiness, and those who loved him will forever smile when they think of him enjoying them.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Hope Womack; his daughter, Michelle Catoe (Lee Catoe); his cherished grandchildren, Faith Scott (Will Scott) and Landon Catoe; his mother-in-law, Linda Gail Miller; his brother-in-law, Beecher Miller (Charlene); his brothers, Raymond Womack and Alton Womack; his sister, Mary Malphurs; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, there will not be a traditional funeral service. Visitation will be held Friday, October 9th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Horis A. Ward – Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Burial will immediately follow in Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry's memory to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We count it a great blessing and joy to have had him with us for the time we did. While our hearts ache because he is no longer here, we find comfort in knowing that he is now with Jesus—no longer struggling to breathe, no longer in pain, and finally at peace.
His love, his kindness, his helping hands, and the memories he gave us will remain in our hearts forever.
“Love does not end with goodbye; it carries on in every heart he touched.”
