Lee was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia on January 28, 1938 to Edgar and Lucille Hembree. He enlisted and was honorably discharged from the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a radio beacon operator. After his service he went on to work at General Motors. After retiring from there, he worked at a couple of other places, notably Tara Plastics / Starr Packaging where he met his true love and again tried out retirement. When he found retirement to be a bit too quiet, he went to work at Wal-Mart where he made good friends and had a lot of laughs along the way. His favorite pastimes were fishing, laughing and Braves baseball.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Edgar Hembree and Mrs. Lucille “Mama Cille" Hembree, he was preceded in death by his brother Billy and two grandsons, Justin Holmes and Benjamin Holmes. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Judith ‘Judy’ Hembree; two brothers, Wilson ‘W.H.” Hembree and Ronnie Hembree; four daughters, Laura Hembree, Kim Frode-Hansen, Ginger Wittmann and Ellen Aiken; four grandchildren, Freddy Frode-Hansen, Thomas Holmes, Kristie Collingwood and Travis Aiken; ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and an extended host of family and friends. He will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Lee on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
