A native of Jefferson County, Monticello, Florida, Mr. Philmon retired from the United States Army. Following his army career, he became a pilot, flight instructor, and managed a small airport in Jonesboro, GA. After a serious airplane crash, he became involved in the Clayton County Library System where he lived at that time. He was Chairman of the library board for 19 years. He was honored for his service with a library named after him; Lee Brent Philmon Library- Riverdale Branch.
He is survived by: wife, Phyllis Philmon; sons, William Philmon, Brent Philmon (Kayla), Buddy Adams (Jan), Rick McNabb (Kathy); daughter, Rebecca Henley (Mike); 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister Virginia Studstill (George); and a niece & nephew.
He was preceded in death by parents, Case Lee and Beatrice Lewis Philmon; and daughter, Karen Stokes. Lee was an avid reader and a movie aficionado. Lee was dedicated and devoted to God, his country, his family, and his greatest treasure of all- Phyllis.
