

Leslie “Leon” Bryan, age 72, of Rex, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel at 3 pm. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
Leon served in the Army as a SP5 during the Vietnam Era where he trained to be a printer within the army. He worked over 30 years at Austin Printing in Atlanta GA. He was a brilliant man of few words but when he spoke he expressed compassion, love, and wisdom that encouraged so many. He loved people, animals, gardening, his family and God. He grew up the oldest son of a Deacon who was a charter member of Ash Street Baptist Church. Most recently Leon was a member and volunteered within the nursery and in outreach ministries at Stockbridge Community Church. He served his neighborhood as the Street Captain in the Foxfield community and was well loved and respected as a true and honorable leader.
He is survived by: wife, Betty Bryan of 49 years; son, Heathe Bryan & Susan Craft, daughter, Tiffany & Brian Starnes and grandchildren; Valerie Tucker, Ashton Starnes and Camden Pevy, siblings; Carolyn & Tommy Grant and Kerry & Nancy Bryan, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Leslie and Florence Bryan.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 1pm to 3 pm at the funeral home.
