The son of the late James Olin and Cora Gaston Thompson.  His friends called him Melvin or Red.  He is survived by his wife Bobbie Kirby Thompson, they both resided in Union City, Georgia.  He was a veteran having served in the US Army during World War II.  He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway.  A graveside service was held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 2pm.  

Rest in Peace Sir.
