Lillie Delores Mungin

She was born on July 10, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia to Walter and Willie Eva Jenkins. Known for her fun personality, grounded insight, quick wit, and her love of laughter, Delores will be dearly

missed by all who knew her. She was a loving wife, devoted mother of four children, and cherished sibling and friend.

Early in her career, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company. Most of her work career, however, was in insurance working for companies such as

Life of Georgia, The Hartford, and Munich Reinsurance Company.

She was a God-fearing woman who loved God’s Word and being a member of Bridge City Church. She loved good worship music (especially Phillips Craig and Dean songs) and was a big fan of Tina Turner. She personally wrote lyrics and music for three original worship songs. She loved visiting those who were sick and shut-in and making brownies to share with them. Back in the day, she was a great seamstress and often made the clothes she wore to work. In recent years, she loved her gym days with her church friends. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family—this meant more to her than anything. She absolutely loved laughing— the more of it the better. As a young woman, she dreamed of being an English teacher. It fostered a love for the proper use of grammar. She could spot a gerund (a noun ending in “ing”) from 50 feet away, and she secretly dared you to misuse “she and I” or “she and me” phrases in the English language—she was prepared to correct it and explain the appropriate use of each. Her most favorite thing, however, was the laughter of her children and grandchildren when they were all together. This is what brought her the most joy. She loved visiting with them, traveling with them, vacationing with them, and simple conversations with them.

Delores’ family asks that you remember the joy she brought to others, the warmth of her heart toward you, the wisdom she often shared in life, and the deliciously unmatched chocolate

cakes (both yellow and devil’s food) and brownies she often baked for others—not the sadness her unexpected passing brings.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eufala Mathis, Venita Jenkins, and her brother, Bruce Jenkins.

She is survived by her husband, Morris; her daughter, Marvita Franklin, her sons Tony Barnes (DeShonna), Chris Mungin (Rochelle), and Jason Mungin (Michelle); her grandchildren Shannon Asiamah (David), Joshua, Jayden, Jackson, Ian, Emma and Chloe; and her siblings Regina Sanford, Erma Pearson, and William Jenkins.

Visitation will be held at Bridge City Church, 3910 N Henry Blvd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, on July 25, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Bridge City Church, 3910 N Henry Blvd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, on July 25, 2026, at 10:00 am.

Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, US, on July 25, 2026.
