Linda was such a wonderful loving person. Although I only met her a few times, I enjoyed here teachings and kindness.

Kamal, we pray that The Living God, creator or Heaven and Earth, blesses your family with strength and peace during this time of loss.

Linda was a lady in the very best sense of that term.  She was always well dressed, considerate of others and well mannered.  Her smile would light up a room.  She always brought me the most delicious bread when she came to see me.  I will miss her greatly.

Dear Kamal, 

We hope that you will find comfort now and always, and that you know you are loved and not alone. Your Linda was a special lady, with many talents and a very kind heart. I served briefly with her in the Oaks ward. It was there that as I was teaching a lesson on the priesthood and my mother, who also passed away from cancer, visited the room and shared a message with a close friend of yours and Linda's. The message was very personal and filled a void for me that I thought would stay with me for the remainder of my life. I do not feel this occurrence during Linda's watch over the well-being and care of the ward sisters was a coincidence. It was special and important, not only to me at the time, but still today as our family has returned to Bakersfield for a time. I have been inspired many times over the past week plus, with thoughts of Linda and to take action towards helping others, even people she knew and loved. Linda is still watching out for others. Even as I share this with you, Kamal, I have a lump in my throat; and deep feelings of peace, happiness and love come to mind for you, your family and many others, that Linda loved. 

May God bless and keep you and your family until you meet Linda again.

 Kamal Alan and family, I will sure miss Linda. Frank and her were so close. They had been in Seminary and church related activities together, and a close bond with each other had grew. She was the best friend a person could ever have. I knew Frank was really struggling with the fact that Linda was really sick. He took it really hard, and couldn't shake it.The thing i will miss is her beautiful poem writing's. This was the kind of person that could go somewhere and experience the good in it, and then come back and write that kind of poem that would really uplift your spirits.Linda had the most beautiful smile and with that you knew she was happy. With me (Kim) she will be forever missed. Linda and Frank are together catching up on things they had missed out on. Frank will be forever missed also. As his wife I am also in this situation and really miss him deeply. Frank I think knew that Linda's life was drawing close and he to couldn't handle this. Maybe that was the plan in that he left first in order to greet her at the veil. This is what I feel . I really love Linda so much and I am really struggling with them both gone. Kamal's Eulogy:
My Dear Linda

On September of 1974 I moved to Athens to pursue my graduate work at the University of Georgia.  One day as I was leaning down fixing my bike I was approached by two attractive young women and they introduced themselves; Kathy and Becky, and I thought this must be my lucky day! And while I was disappointed when they invited me to meet their husbands, I still accepted the invitation since we discovered that Kathy's husband, Phil, was in one of my classes.  When I visited them later, I encountered Linda who was coming from a church activity with Kathy.  Later I was invited to dinner along with Becky and her husband at Kathy's & Phil apartment and Linda was there. That evening I asked her for a date and she accepted.  Later she confessed that she said yes because she did not understand what I asked. 

And as they say, the rest is history!

She always reminds me that I said I do twice and I am glad I did.

Linda was the kindest and most compassionate person I ever knew.  She is a unique combination of Princess Diana and Mother Theresa and at some times she is the most glamorous lady in the room, and at others she is kneeling on the floor talking to a small child or comforting a sick person.  

She was able to get off her bed in the ICU on the third day after her surgery and she insisted on going to the adjacent rooms to comfort the sick people.  She had a 16 cm opening on her head, but that did not phase her.  She said, I am used to be standing by the bedside, not laying in it

 She dragged me, kicking and screaming, to shelter homes, food kitchens, hospital and all sorts of charitable functions. 

Because of the nature of my job, we had many visitors from foreign countries where she often was the only native English speaking person on the table, but she always managed to include everyone in the conversation.

Linda joined me in most of my overseas travel and played the role of the social butterfly in the group. She would go out during the day, while we are working, and visit the surrounding places, take pictures, and report to us, sometime as the dinner speaker. She was so generous with the natives that at one time the director of one of my overseas teams complained about her tipping practices,  She is spoiling the people, he said.

The first time we visited Mexico we were stormed by a group of little kids in a small village asking for money. Linda came up with the brilliant idea of taking their pictures with a Polaroid and gave it to them instead. She said those kids probably never saw their faces in a picture before. Soon we were being followed by most of the kids in the village!

Linda got to ride the elephants in Thailand, horses on the beach in the Dominican Republic and camels in Egypt.  She fed the kangaroos in Australia and was chased by monkeys around the Buddhist temple.

She went inside the great Giza's pyramid, climbed the Mayan step pyramid and jumped from 40 feet high into the sinkhole water-well in Mexico. She drove the back roads of New Zealand, walked the beaches of Australia, and swam in the water of Hawaii. She saw El Azhar mosque in Egypt, went to Buddha's temple and attended a mass at the Vatican.

 Linda  visited the Egyptian museum in Cairo, the Louver in Paris and the Van Gouge in Amsterdam, but refused to go into the London Tower because she felt bad spirit around it. 

She told me for a southern girl that never wanted to cross the Mason Dixon line, I am doing very well!

But wherever we are in the world Linda attended the church, whether we understood the language or not. And she never eat out on Sundays, no matter what. Linda would never compromise her beliefs or change her principles. She was very strong in a gentle way.

Linda would hardly ever give anyone the satisfaction of getting in an argument nor did she ever feel that she have to prove anything to anyone.  She only saw the good in people and had that great ability to befriend the friendly and the unfriendly just the same. 

She listened to those who needed to talk and talked to those who needed to listen. Linda was the same inside as she was outside and I never heard her speaking ill of anyone. She touched the life of those that knew her and loved all children as if they were her own. I am getting mail and e-mails from people who tell me about things she did that I never knew.  I am learning more about Linda now than I did in the last 40 years.

She was blessed with so much talent. She sang, dance and played and led music. She wrote poems and a childrens book, painted walls, draw, decorated cakes, and made gingerbread houses, but she left the cooking to me! 
She documented our life in volumes of diary books. 

She was just at ease playing in the sand with a little child as she was setting at a table in a fancy restaurant.

At one time a couple in one of my groups lost their young child and I told her that I did not know what to say to them. She said, you know we all come to here with a mission and some of us are fast and efficient, they finish their assignment quickly and go back. Others are slow and inefficient and they just  linger around. And, as usual she just wrote a poem about it. 

Linda wrote poems as you and I talk. Karlyn, our close friend from California, sent me a 16 lb package that contained most of Linda's poems.

Linda explained her ability to write poem in, what else, a poem!:

As I travel through my life
It happens from time to time
The joy felt and lessons learned
Flow out of me in rhyme

Often in the middle of the night
I awaken and quietly go
To find a pen and pad of paper
And led the feeling flow

Like messages from God
The words come into view
And I am often overwhelmed by the experience
Seeing what He can do

In the quiet hours come most of the poems
Gifts from Heaven above
And I am humbled by this gift
of my Savior's love

Most of Linda's poems were spiritual, but she also shows her sense of humor in some.  I was the target for this one:

I don't know how to tell you this
So that you'll know it's a fact
the man I did marry
confused me with his act

He thought my eyes were blue
he thought my hair was blonde
The man was blind, I figured
even with glasses on!

The first date that we had
he thrice asked, Shall we wed?
He insists that I said, Yes!
but I didn't know what he said!

He had a bit of an accent
and his name was surely strange
For a girl from Georgia, named Jones
life would never be the same

My friend sure sang his praises
he's smart and, don't you know,
His teeth are all perfect
and his children's will be so

I guess that really impressed me
convinced me from the start
In six weeks we were married
and ouch  there went my heart!

Then we had three children
which worried him and me 
Would they have his good' looks
and be smart' like me?!

Mother Nature is not funny
her jokes are not nice
The two girls both have braces
and the baby's teeth aren't nice

The children are not perfect
but the best thing is you see
Their brains came from their father
and their good looks came from me

As husbands go, I'm lucky
mine is truly a gem
Although he's balding slightly
He's nice  I'll keep him

My poem is now ended
and you can see it's true
My hair is still not blonde
and my eyes are still not blue

And of course there is a story behind that. As we were walking on campus one day I told Linda that I wrote to my family about the beautiful blond blue eyed girl that I am going to marry.  She stopped, looked at me and pointed to her hair and asked, what color is my hair?  I said brown.  And what color are my eyes? I again, I said, brown. So, who is the blond you are going to marry, she asked. I said, now you know that love is really blind!

In September of 09 Linda wrote:

When I die Lord, let it rain
And thunder loud and long
that my family and friends will know
I am with thee
and not just think I'm gone

As they bury me in the ground
Lord, please let the sunshine bright
and may those gathered to say good-bye
feel the Savior's light

May the beauty of the day
Invite all to live and love
To look ahead to opportunities here on earth
seeking help from Heaven above

And, when they leave Lord, to travel home
may the experiences of the day
Strengthen them to serve each other
in determined, righteous, ways

But when Linda passed, it was a beautiful sunny day in Columbus, where we just moved, and I thought she finally made a mistake.  But by the end of the day I received a text message from our home teacher in California saying:

It rained all day here today just as Linda said in her poem and now there is a beautiful rainbow

Perhaps God did not get the change of address notice!

Last Sunday, I woke up at about 4 in the morning with overwhelming feeling that Linda has finished her mission here on earth and that it is okay for her to go home. I know that her father, her aunt Louise and my parents will be there to greet her.

She was God's gift to me and without her in my life, I would have been a lost soul.  I am so grateful for the 40 years of her life that she shared with me.

I love you baby.

Linda was a wonderful woman! She had a wonderful smile!  We will always remember the time she invited our children over to make gingerbread houses. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

The first time I met Linda was when she first came to Bakersfield and I was going to the Temple and she asked me if she could go.  That was a wonderful day.  She had such class.  She will be so missed.  God Bless her family.

My heart a deepest sympathy goes out to  Linda and all those closest to her.  Linda's legacy is all around in the world she touched.  Her family and friends remember her passion, devotion, and love. In big and small ways a part of her will live on through the better world she helped to make. Nothing can replace such a loss. But, there is celebration in a life that was truly lived.   She will be missed!

From the very first day I met Linda, our lives were blessed by her bright countenance and unconditional love.  Linda and Kamal soon became  "adoptive grandparents" to our children, loving them as their own. What a blessing to all of us to have them in our lives.   Linda taught me so much about love, service and faith, through her own example. It's so hard to believe she is no longer with us. Thank you, Kamal, for sharing your beautiful wife with us. She will be missed dearly. Our love and prayers are with you and your family always.

A truly special and giving woman is Linda Aboshamaa!  A memory that I have to share about her Christlike attributes of generosity and thoughtfulness was when she hosted a gingerbread making activity for all the kids in our ward at her home in Newburgh, IN.  Dressed in her festive costume, she baked hundreds of gingerbread pieces for the delighted young children and we were able to decorate the houses with her.  She was not asked to do it, she just wanted to share Christmas joy with the children.  That has made a lasting impression on me.  Glad I was able to cross paths with her for a short time.  Our hearts go out to her family.

Wow, I am speechless as I opened up my facebook page this morning and saw the news. I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Columbus Ohio in the Westerville ward. I so remember the many "Breakfast's for Dinners" we would have at the Aboshamaa's home. Linda always made me and my companions feel at home, she was hilarious and would let my missionary companion and myself as well as the Elders that sometimes joined for dinner take turns cooking and helping out in the kitchen just like we were at home.    Kamal, Alan and family, I know that Linda and Frank,my husband,are in a better place, with no more pain and worries. I know what it's like because I have just gone through it. It's so painful beyond words. Frank was gone in a twinkling of an eye. I compare it to that in that I never got to speak to him again. He was in a coma the whole time on a form of life support until we had to take him off with the family all nearby. Linda was the greatest poem writer, and that is what I will miss about her. She was the greatest friend a person could ever have and she listened if you had a problem. She will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family this coming week, and always remember that you are loved by your friends around you. To Lindas family,  although you don't know me I am a friend of Dianas from Colorado.  I am very saddened to learn of the passing of your wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend.  I heard from Diana that she was a lovely, classy and very special woman.  I am all too familiar with the nasty and unforgiving disease of brain tumors as i lost my husband to one (he was 40).  Diana knew him well. She and Michael attended our wedding in 1998.  So please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences as you move through your  journey of grief without Linda physically present in your lives.
