Lucille Lydia Rainey, age 98 of Macon, GA, beloved wife of the late Willie F. Rainey, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. She was the youngest of four children of Richard Harris and Mary Davis Harris.
Loving mother of Willie F. Rainey, Jr. (Wanda), Robert Rainey and the late David Rainey. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jasmine Clark, Willie F. Rainey, III, Brian Rainey, and Whitney Rainey, great grandchildren: Jacobe Clark, Jayda Clark, Emori Rainey, nieces and nephews, Catherine Farley, Richard Harris (Doris), Lillie Harris, Robert Harris, Jr., Marie Fears, Sam Harris (Betty) and a host of loving family and friends.
Lucille was a beloved elementary school teacher in Jones County, GA for 42 years.
She had a love for traveling, gardening, sewing, playing the piano and cooking; her famous dish was her sweet potato soufflé. Mrs. Rainey was a devoted longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church in Macon, GA.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 6-8 pm and Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281, where a funeral service will begin in our chapel at 12 noon.
Interment will be in East Eatonton Cemetery, 124 Hogan Blvd., Eatonton, GA 31024.
