

Margaret “Margo” Lucille Daniels (May) Jefferson was born on August 28, 1945, in Meridian, Mississippi to Ulysses Hall (father) and Izetta Daniels Murry (mother), where she was lovingly reared and educated. A woman of strength, intelligence, and unwavering dedication, Margo lived a full and accomplished life marked by service, leadership, and creativity.
Margo graduated from T.J. Harris High School in Meridian, Mississippi in 1963. Her athletic talent earned her a basketball scholarship to Harris Junior College. In 1964, she transferred to Alcorn A&M College in Lorman, Mississippi, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1968.
In November 1974, Margo received a direct commission as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. She began her distinguished military career in January 1975 as a Finance Officer, serving honorably for more than 30 years as both an Active Duty and Army Reserve Officer. Her commitment to excellence and integrity defined her service to the nation.
Throughout her professional life, Margo held numerous challenging and impactful positions, primarily serving the government in both military and civilian capacities. Among her many roles were Program Budget Officer, Chief of Officer Management, Equal Opportunity Officer, Chief of the Administrative Services Division, Accounting Officer, Alcohol and Drug Command Officer, Training and Education Officer, Chief of Military Pay Division, and Army Emergency Relief Officer. Her leadership, attention to detail, and dedication left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her.
Margo’s service took her across the United States and abroad. She was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama; Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Alexandria, Virginia; Fort McPherson, Georgia; Fort Gillem, Georgia; and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Overseas, she served in Japan; Frankfurt and Grafenwoehr, Germany.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Margo had a deep love for arts and crafts. She approached every project with care and meticulous attention to detail. Her beautiful handcrafted works were admired by family and friends and stand as a testament to her creativity and patience.
Margo was divorced and leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Benjamin F. (Frankie) May II (Misty); her beloved grandchildren, Benjamin F. May III and Olivia May; her sister, Adele Alford (Ezekiel); her sister-in-law Donna Murray; her stepmother Patricia Hall; her step-sisters, Debra Farmer and Dinah Farmer; and her step-brothers, Darren Farmer and Michael Farmer.
She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Christina Murray; Christopher Murray; Christian Murray; Clarissa N. Shannon (Terrance); Gracie Jones; Tayla Dodson; Roshieka Murray; and Natasha Skinner; as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews: Christopher Murray; Markell McCoy; Caleb Shannon; Makayla Murray; Chloe Shannon; Zion Dodson; JaMichael Murray; and Brianka Murray.
Margo’s life was one of service, resilience, and creativity. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, leadership, and the love she shared with her family, friends and mostly “HER FUR BABIES” (DOGS).
Viewing will be held at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church | 2112 Rex Road, Morrow, GA 30260, on March 16, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at the same location on at 10:00 am. Services will conclude with Graveside Military Honors and Committal at Georgia National Cemetery | 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114 at 2:30 pm.
