The first time I saw Marilyn, I knew that she was the one for me. We met on "The Strip" in Atlanta in the summer of '72. I had my friends "check" her out and they told me that she was bad news and to stay away. That made me want her even more. The first time I asked her name, which I already knew, she turned around and said so lovingly and sweetly, "I'M TIRED OF EVERYONE ASKING ME FOR MY NAME!" That sealed it for me! We were meant for each other. We were married in my parents living room on December 18, 1974.
Marilyn's favorite place to be was Panama City Beach. We went there as much as she wanted. Our favorite pastime was watching sunsets on the beach. She was always at peace, the two of us just sitting there watching another day come to a close. I'm sure that God knew this about her, since He is the one that created her. I am certain that she is walking the beautiful beach in Heaven with our son. I hope to join her as soon as the good Lord allows.
Dear Lord, walk with her and sit with her and let her know that I will be there with her again, hopefully one day soon. All my love to you babe.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Marilyn on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle | 1974 Walt Stephens Road, Jonesboro, GA 30236. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle. Services will conclude with a graveside committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
