Martha was born in Carroll County, Georgia on October 7, 1918 to James Bernard Bryan and Artie Elizabeth Abercrombie. She worked for 17 years in retail at Sears. After retirement, she spent her time taking care of her family as a wonderful homemaker. She was affectionately called "Grandmother" and was loved by all.
She worshipped and served at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and Salem United Methodist Church. She absolutely loved her church family and friends. Martha spent her pastime crocheting, reading and caring for her family.
Martha met and married the love of her life, Joseph Lamar Dobbs in 1935 and they remained happily married until his passing in 2007.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanette Walton; son-in-law, W. David McElroy and granddaughter, Dianne M. Jones.
Martha's life will forever be remembered and cherished by her sister, Elizabeth Brown; sons, Bobby Lamar Dobbs (Estelle) and George Bryan Dobbs; daughter, Myrium D. McElroy; five grandchildren, Jeannine M. Goggans (Trent), Pennie D. Pass (Kenneth), Margaret D. Fogarty (Rich), Jeff L. Dobbs (Melissa) and Elizabeth M. White (Les); a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and family friends.
A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 2:00PM at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia. Friends attending the service are asked to gather at 1:30PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Salem United Methodist Church, 3962 Salem Road, Covington, Georgia 30016.
