Martha Martha Jaillette Meason passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2013. Selecting the proper words to describe Martha is nearly impossible. This can be attributed not only to her indescribable spirit, but also her genuine fascination with the beautiful words that make up the English language. When she spoke, her graceful pronunciation blended effortlessly with her warm southern accent, making anyone feel at home. Martha was born on January 1, 1932 in Atlanta, GA, attended Minnie Howell Elementary School and later studied at Dasher Bible School in Lake Park, GA. Those who knew Martha could tell you how perfectly she embodied the essence of a true southern woman. Deeply rooted in Atlanta, her cherished memories of the "old" city provided endless entertainment. Her vivid and descriptive memories such as meeting her grandmother at the Rich's clock, attending movies at the Fox Theater, or riding in streetcars could make you feel like you were there as well. She had a lifelong love of cooking and would prepare a true feast of scrumptious food even for the simplest of gatherings, always worrying that there wouldn't be enough. Those lucky enough to enjoy one of her unbelievable holiday spreads would agree that they're certainly eating well in heaven now! Mirroring her beautiful spirit, Martha had an appreciation for nature's beauty, and could make even a garden weed look exquisite. She took the time to nurture and grow her magnificent gardens, much like how she raised her family. From sun up to sun down she put others before herself, treating every member of her family like one of her delicate orchids. Martha was typically reluctant to accept special attention from others, but she made an exception for her husband, and the love of her life, Bill Meason. Experiencing their bond in person was proof that soul mates do in fact exist. Even after more than 59 years of marriage, they continued to care more for each other every day. Martha is survived by her husband and 4 of her 5 children: Charles (wife, Sharon), Joy (husband, Charlie), Bill (wife, Teresa), and Patti, 14 Grandchildren: Michael, Cinnamon, Mark, Monica, Matthew, John, Rachel, Katie, Sam, Marti, William, Erin, Thomas, and Alexandra, and several great-grandchildren. Her oldest son, Walter David "Skipper," pre -deceased her in 1994. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Friday September 27, 2013 11:00AM at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2850 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek GA with a reception following. Graveside service will be Saturday September 28, 2013 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery, Stockbridge GA.
