Peggy Shadix

Peggy was the true definition of a Steel Magnolia—a woman whose inner strength, grace, and resilience uplifted all those around her, no matter what life brought her way.

A devoted mother, Peggy raised five children and, as a young mom, returned to college, graduating with honors from nursing school in 1987. She enjoyed a distinguished career as a Registered Nurse, retiring after more than 30 years of caring for others with compassion and dedication. Her patients, colleagues, and community were blessed by her skill and her heart for service.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She welcomed eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren into her ever-growing, loving circle. Family gatherings and holidays were treasured times, filled with her delicious Southern cooking, warm hospitality, and laughter that spilled from every room.

Peggy’s legacy is one of unconditional love, faith, service, and devotion to family. She leaves behind countless memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew her best.

She is survived by her children: Cathy Wells of Locust Grove; David (Tracy) Adams of Locust Grove; Tammy (Keith) Taylor of Fayetteville; and Marshall (LeAnne) Adams of McDonough. She was the proud grandmother of Candis Tanner, Roger (Summer) Tanner, Sam (Christina) Moore, Michael Moore, Casey (Melinda) Moore, Morgan (Julie) Adams, Tyler(Ariel) Adams, Austin Taylor, Brock Taylor, and Colin Taylor as well as several great grandchildren, her sister Diann Johnston as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Shadix; her daughter, Tanya Moore; her grandson, Brandon Moore; and her sister, Patsy Odom.

Peggy will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation of family and friends for Peggy will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of life will occur Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. An interment will occur Friday, September 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
