She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jackie Swindell, her husband of 20 years, Kenneth David Ivey (“Sunshine”), the father her children and dear friend, Randy Brown, and her beloved dog, Layla. Regina is survived by her daughters: Kandace Brown; Lindsey Brown; her siblings: Chris and Tammy Swindell; Caron and Jay Cantrell; Wanda and Bond Bowman; and her “grand-dogs,” Kaiser, Mozzie, and Bella, who loved their “Mimi” very much.
Regina was the youngest (and bossiest) of her siblings, but she was also the glue that held her family together after the passing of their parents. She could always be counted on to host family gatherings, making sure everyone felt welcome and loved.
Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she took great pride in decorating…transforming her home into something worthy of a Saks Fifth Avenue window display. She also spent countless hours (and more than a little money) carefully selecting the perfect Hallmark ornaments to add to her collection every year, a tradition she looked forward to with joy and excitement.
Though her family wishes they had more time with her, they take comfort in knowing that Regina is now joyfully reunited with her beloved “Sunshine,” her first love Randy, her parents, and Layla. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
