Robert W. Perry was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 3, 1947 to Wyman and Rose Perry. The youngest of five, he attended parochial school and graduated from Jefferson High School, in Monroe, Michigan in 1965.
He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served two years in Korea as a jeep driver for the officers. After his service in the military, Bob began selling new cars at a Dodge Dealership in Detroit. He moved to Georgia in 1973, where he sold new cars at City Dodge in Decatur, GA. Later he became the used car buyer for Carey Paul Ford, where he met his wife, Charis. Bob then began his own company, “RWP Sales”, as a wholesale dealer. He retired when he was 65, but not really. He continued buying and selling cars, motorcycles and anything with a motor as a hobby.
He loved anything to do with cars. He was an avid collector of classic cars, motorcycles, and Cushman scooters. If it had wheels and a motor, he loved it. He attended many classic car auctions with his wife, and later on with his son-in-law, Michael and grandchildren, Madalyn, Robert and Joshua. He loved to always spend time with his family. His wife was his life, and his girls and grandchildren lit up his world. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren on the swing, riding the golf cart, cooking out with his family, and attending their sporting events. He loved to eat hot dogs with his grandkids, whether it be at the Varsity, Skins in South Carolina, QT or at home.
Bob was a member of St. James Catholic Church in McDonough, GA and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as an usher, and taking up the offering there. Bob met his wife, Charis, at Carey Paul Ford in 1980. Their first date was for lunch in July of 1980, and were married July 17, 1981. They were very happily married for 44 years, living in the same place.
A devoted husband, dad and granddaddy, Bob leaves behind his wife, Charis; his daughters, Faith Meaney, Kandice (Brandon) Thomas, Melissa (Michael) Bell, Bobbi (Matt) Norton, and Erica Perry; his grandchildren, Madalyn Bell, Robert Bell, Joshua Bell, Brooke Norton and Perry Norton; his sisters, Barbara Franz and Connie Durand; brother-in- law, Frank (Cheri) Foster, brother-in-law, Steve Foster and sister-in-law, Renee (Garry) Grimes; along with many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wyman and Rose Perry; sister, Jo Ann Bork and brother, David Perry, whom he all loved dearly.
