Ronnie Lee Ray

Born May 29th, 1948, Ronnie lived a long fulfilled life. After graduating high school, he served our country during the Vietnam war, he was deployed to South Korea for 19 months, and was an Armory Specialist. His time in the service and warzone left him legally deaf. For his honor and sacrifice, we deeply respect him.

Ronnie did all of this, not before marrying, his one love, Paula, on June 1st, 1968, after one year of dating. They have three children, Buster, Billy, and his favorite daughter, Katie. Ronnie was a faithful member of Honey Creek Baptist Church and was deeply loved by his community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle.

Survived by his wife Paula, his sister Carolyn Smith, his children: Buster, Billy, and Katie, his daughter-in-law April; his grandchildren: Isaiah, Jonas, Gillian, Sam, Aryssa, and Emma, and his great grandchildren: Josiah, Amelia, and Jensen. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Bertha, his brother Kenneth, his daughter in law Maria, and his granddaughter Alani Jaris.

Ronnie will be remembered for his bravery, love for his family, stubbornness, jokes that made everyone and himself laugh, and Gunsmoke, his favorite tv show. Most notably being a man of very few words, the on-going joke was that family and friends believed he could not talk or he didn’t have a tongue. Only when you really got to know him would he talk your ear off, one of the many reasons we all loved him.

Family and Friends are invited to the "Celebration of Life" service to be held at Honey Creek Baptist Church, 1740 Honey Creek Road, S.W., Conyers, Georgia GA 30094 on Sunday, September 20th, visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. with the funeral beginning at 01:00 p.m. . A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, September 21st at 01:00 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
