Sarah was raised in different parts of Georgia and Florida, and attended Roosevelt High School until she graduated. She spent time at monthly luncheons reconnecting with former classmates including her brother, Chester and his wife, Nancy. Sarah married Richard Lee Adams, the first time, January 5, 1968, and a couple more times thereafter. Sarah received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Clayton State University in 1994. She enjoyed her jobs in bookkeeping and accounting with various companies including the family business of United Safety Apparatus. She remained Co-President of Sexton Enterprises Inc. with her brother until the date of her passing.
Mama loved to be outdoors, walking, gardening, swimming, and visiting with family and friends. She and Daddy spent many evenings playing games at Sabrina’s house. One of their favorite games to play was Wheel of Fortune. When she and Daddy were out of town for Daddy’s work with the airlines, she would come home and play card games with Rhonda, Case, and Amber, listen to music, and sing the wrong lyrics.
She loved life and had a distinctive laugh. We joked that she learned to whisper in a sawmill, but it worked out because Daddy couldn’t hear very well. She would have given the shirt off her back to someone who needed it and often did more than she could to help others. She loved her husband, our Daddy, Richard until the very end, and she loved her children, sons in love, and grandchildren just as much. She will be missed deeply.
Preceded in death by her parents, T.L. and Evelyn Sexton.
Survived briefly by her spouse of 58 years, Richard Lee Adams, who passed away on September 21, 2026, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). Survived by her daughters, Sabrina (Lewis) Jordan and Rhonda (Case) Taylor, her grandchildren, Amber (Cody) Sanders, Brittany and Jeremy Jordan, grand-dogs (Zuko, Lady, Daisy, Loca), great grand-dogs (Tank and Jade), and great grand-kitties (Shadow, Nala, and Raven). Also survived by her siblings, Brenda, Pat, Chester, Tommy, and Phillip, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews and extended family.
Personal note of thanks from mom: Thank you for sharing your life with mine and my life with yours. Love ya!
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not [a]want.
He makes me to lie down in [b]green pastures;
He leads me beside the [c]still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will [d]dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
