Sharon Yvette Stone-Bentley was born January 24, 1959. She was the fourth of seven children born to the late Willie James Stone, Sr. and Dorothy Young-Stone. She was educated in the Birmingham City School system, and completed her undergraduate degree at Birmingham Southern College.
It was during her college matriculation that Sharon met the man of her dreams, Robin Bentley, with whom she spent all her happy years. On May 5, 1984, they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union, three beautiful children were born: Jonathan Isaac, Erynn Danielle, and Amber Elizabeth; each representing the best she had to offer this world. Sharon remained a devoted wife and mother; a constant source of support and inspiration. Gifted and accomplished in her own right, she chose to depart from her career to work alongside her husband.
Sharon enjoyed a passion for crafting and gardening. Both of which were more than just hobbies; they were labors of love that ministered to her personally. She did both masterfully, sharing her creations and produce generously with friends and family alike. The process seemed to depict her life’s creed: create beauty, plant good seeds, nurture and protect, produce good fruit, promote growth, spread love, and share what God has given you with others.
Although raised in the Baptist church pastored by her grandfather, it merely took a single prayer, uttered in silence one day to catalyze a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. That relationship sustained her and prepared her for this day.
Our beloved Sharon transitioned from this earthly realm on December 18, 2014.
Left with precious memories are: her loving, devoted husband and children, Robin, Jonathan (Caty), Erynn, and Amber; mother: Dorothy Stone; siblings: Jackie (John), Horace, Victor (Jeanetta), Timothy, Faith, Thomas (Laverne), Dorothy, Bettie, and Patricia. She was predeceased by Willie, Jr. and Andrea Faye.
Loved and adored, Sharon will be forever remembered by her nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Memorial services for Sharon will be held in the chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia on Saturday, December 27 at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be held following the memorial service at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35211. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 26 from 6 to 8 pm.
