Shirley Jean (Upchurch) Parker

Shirley was born on January 17, 1931 in Decatur, Georgia to Joseph and Margaret Upchurch. After high school, she worked as a switchboard operator until she had her first child. She later spent her time loving and raising her children and being an awesome wife and mother. She and her family were active members of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Shirley loved to help others and spent time doing so through her countless hours of volunteerism.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Kincaid Upchurch; father, Joseph Paul Upchurch, Sr.; devoted husband of 69 years, Charles Glen Parker and siblings, Joseph Paul Upchurch, Jr., Elaine Upchurch Daniel and Joseph Thomas Upchurch.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Glenna Chapman (Rusty) and Cindy Parks (Milo); four grandchildren, Jennifer Chapman Smith, Derek Chapman, Jody Parks and Matt Parks; five great-grandchildren, Charlote Smith, Nate Chapman, Ben Chapman, Jackson Parks and Bradley Parks; sister, Milly Upchurch Mabros; brother, Terry Upchurch; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and family friends.

Visitation for Shirley Upchurch Parker will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home-Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia, where a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 12:00Noon.

A private interment will be held in Panthersville Cemetery.
