Thomas was born February 14th, 1947 in Chicago, IL to the late Peter Kolpak and Mary(Buda)Kolpak. Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Kolpak; Brother Butch and sister Marianne.
He is survived by two children, Patrick Kolpak (Kim) and Robert Kolpak (Kristy); one grandson, TJ and one granddaughter, Maggie.
Thomas worked for the United States Postal Service in Stockbridge, GA for 20 years and retired in 2013 He also worked in Logistics for many years. He was a Veteran, serving two years in the United States Army. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in McDonough, GA. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and Atlanta Braves. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending his days fishing on his prior lake he lived on. He enjoyed family get togethers, especially cooking out steaks and brats. He had a love for all Chicago food especially Chicago hotdogs, Italian beef sandwich’s, and tamale’s.
Thomas’s greatest love in life was his grandson, TJ. Watching his grandson play youth baseball and soccer and spending time with him made him happiest. He also enjoyed helping coach TJ and his friends in youth baseball and soccer. The kids had a great love for him often referring to him as Pops. He also had a love for his dogs, taking care of many Miniature Schnauzers throughout the years.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Thomas’s visitation on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00 pm at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home-Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge GA 30281. A celebration of life will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in Ward’s Chapel. Services will conclude with a graveside committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
