Hey Grandpa, It’s finally happening, Russia is talking about invading Ukraine, I plan on enlisting in a few years in the Marines. I don’t know if it’s gonna happen next week or next year but all I do know is i’m gonna fight my hardest to defend this great Nation of ours, Freedom comes at a price I am more than willing to pay if it means the Protection of our Democracy.

Uncle Tony, you were such an inspiration to us and you will be truly missed! I will always treasure the memories of your family visits! Your laughter was infectious as well as your handsome smile! Mama loved you so much and I know your family in Heaven is rejoicing with you in God's Grace! God Bless you all!

I loved my daddy so much and always will.  The saying "You will always be in my heart" is so very true and real.  I know he is in Heaven at peace and joy in the presence of God, Jesus, Almighty Holy Spirit.  He was a loving father, and always worked hard to provide for his family.  The full Military Honors to Daddy at his funeral was so very moving, all of it, the 21 gun salute and everything! We love you daddy. Moved me to tears, tears of honor, love, and joy for the respect daddy so deserved having been so dedicated to his military career as a Green Beret 5th Special Forces and 82nd Airborne. Served two tours in Vietnam helping the oppressed. After that as a Police Officer and then as a Court Bailiff before retiring. I love you daddy!

A few of the memories I have of daddy is how he would not let anyone say anything negative of the other. I also remember how he disciplined his children. Some of the ways would be scrubbing the floor tiles with a toothbrush, or digging holes in the back yard, then filling them back up again, or push ups, etc. We hated it but I bet he got a kick out of it. He did at times have a sense of humor. I remember how he brought a boars head home and put it on the table as our main course. The eye balls were still in it. I think I can still hear him laughing about that one. We didn't find it funny though. We thought we were going to have to eat it. I have other memories. Through thick and thin though I love my dad. I hope he sees my beautiful daughter there and they hug.

Daddy it was a honor to be your 3rd daughter,you instilled in us how to be true, strong,and humble.I will always remember how you dressed me in army clothes like a mini soldier and took me to base with you.I am thankful for the 3 weeks that I was able to come to Ga. and care for you while you were so ill before you passed, washing your feet, trimming you nails, bathing you and being able to have our father and daughter talks, things you shared with me that I will cherish forever, things you ask me to keep to myself and the promise I made to you will be keep. I will remember the hug you gave me before I left you was the strongest one you ever gave as you knew it was  our last on earth.You said make sure all us children have Jesus with us and we be together with God the father, Jesus the son and the Holy spirit. the very best of the best Tony Hayes went from being Tony to bein DAD he was always there I miss him so much

Tony (Sgt Hayes) I'll never forget working with you at FPPD in the early 70's. It was a crazy and fun time. 
I learned a lot from you and you shared your Vietnam experiences in things you helped develop to aid quick extract and the demonstrations you took part in for visiting dignitaries. 
You will be remembered by many new (at that time) police recruits whom you nursed along.

I like to think of death on Earth as birth in Heaven.  I know Uncle Tony will be remembered with fond memories by his children and his wife, and those of the Hayes family in NC.  He will live on here in his children.  He gave to them a love of country music and a true appreciation for voice and guitar.  He was a hero before I even knew what that meant.  It was spelled Green Beret!   I know my mom, his sister Pauline was so proud of him as a boy, and then as a man.   Our prayers, ( Fran Carmody Younger and Vaughn Younger ) will continue for the healing of the Hayes family, relatives, and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.  May your memories bring you comfort.

Tony has left an empty space that cannot be filled in the hearts of his family.  We all will grieve his passing from here on earth to be in the presence of our Lord. I know the grief Tracey and his children and grandchildren is overwhelming. He was so well loved by all his family, brothers, sisters, many nieces and nephews.  I never remember an occasion when Tony came home and it was a special celebration.  I loved his infectious laugh.  What an honor to be loved and missed by so many.  Your niece Gail

Uncle Tony was a great man, An American hero, Family man who loved his Sisters Dot, Joyce and Linda as well as Nub and Pauline and his brother Robert. he is missed and loved by all of the Family and will always be remembered

Tony was a good man and an outstanding police LT. He was a good friend and will be missed.
