Vivian LaNetta Bender

Vivian LaNetta Goodrum Bender was born on May 9, 1929, in Orlando Florida, to the late Reverend Armstead Arthur and Helen Janet Goodrum. She was the youngest of 6 children and shared her birth with a loving twin Vera who preceded her in death. Vivian married the love of her life, the late Robert T. Bender and that union was blessed with two loving children, the late Darryl (Pam) Bender and Arletta Bender.

The framework of her life was anchored in a Christian cultured home where the love of God, a thirst for knowledge and a fierce determination to serve were among her virtues. Vivian was always active in the ministry holding various positions such as Alter and Rosary Society President for more than 10 years at St. Ethelreda Catholic Church in Chicago Il, a dedicated prayer warrior for 20+ years on the interfaith Bible Study Prayer Line, and most recently established the TLC Team at Bethel United Methodist Church in Stockbridge Ga.

She received many awards for her untiring efforts and distinguished service. As she is received by the Father, her greatest reward is the celebration of life in His kingdom and the reunion with loved ones who await her arrival.

Left to cherish her memories are: Daughter – Arletta Bender, Granddaughter – Anita Bender, Sister – Theresia Walker, Nieces – Sheila (Ray) Walker Wilkins, Dr. Patricia Walker and Donna (Bret) Walker Kuhne and Marie Merritt, Great Nieces – Arella (Markeith) Moore and Theresia Walker-Kuhne, Great Nephews – Demosthenes Leo Goodrum III, Charles Goodrum and Christopher Goodrum, and a host of other relatives and lifelong friends.

Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church, Stockbridge GA
