Willis “Wade” Knowles, 93, passed away on July 25, 2017. He is survived by his two children, Britton Knowles, and Kathy Knowles Trammell; three grandchildren, David Knowles, Drew Trammell, and April Knowles; five great-grandchildren, Charlotte Trammell (8), Brittan Knowles (8), Bear Knowles (6), Liam Trammell (4), and Lucas Knowles (4); sister, Doris Weber, and brother, Rodney Knowles. Wade was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn Finch Knowles and brothers, Willie Knowles, and Marion Knowles.
Wade was born in Duplin County, North Carolina on January 9, 1924 to mother, Lomie Tadlock Knowles, and father, Marion Knowles; both also from Duplin County.
Wade was a World War II veteran in the US Army, serving his country at the Battle of the Bulge. He dedicated his life to God and his family. After retiring as Vice President of Conklin Metal Industries, Wade started his own company, Knowles Machinery, where he earned the respect and business of a loyal customer base.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27 at 11:00 am at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home – Fairview Chapel. The family will receive visitors the same day from 10:00 am. to 11:00 am. Interment to follow the service at the Union United Methodist Church cemetery.
