My brother Alex was entrusted to watch over me when I was in Grade 2 and he in Grade 3 as he was in the morning session and I was in the afternoon session. A lot of times I would cry when he was nowhere to be found after my classes. The grasshoppers would lure him into the grassy area outside the school and he enjoyed catching them.
He was mama's boy. He could easily coax our Nanay to give him money to watch movie. While I have to content myself from making "sungkit" from my pitogo alkansiya. Moviehouse entrance then was .10centavos.
After our Tatay died on July 31, 1966 I was able to have a job. He would drive me to work and patiently fetch me after.
It never entered my mind that when he came to visit us in February 2017 it would be his last. During Geraldine's birthday on March 3 she treated us to a Korean eat-all-you-can restaurant. I hope he enjoyed our lunch date.
My memories of him will forever be etched in my heart and mind. Rest in peace brother Alex. You will be reunited with Tatay Roman, Nanay Serapia, Sr. Mary Purissima, your sister Felicidad, brod in law Enrique, nephews Roderick, Richard, Gambie, Delfin and apo Francias Rhoneil. We are consoled because we know that you are now in the warm embrace of our Maker, Lord Jesus Christ.
