Anita (Ana) Manuela Valverde Anderson passed away Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023, at 92. Ana was born in French Camp, CA, on January 1, 1931, seconds after midnight, to the parents of Florentino and Nellie Valverde.
Ana was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Major David W. Anderson, USAF. Ana graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949 and participated in planning reunions, which led her to companionship with fellow alum, Earl Funk. They were together for 12 years until her passing. Ana worked for the State of California and retired after 25 years.
Ana was known as Mom, Grandma, Grams, GG, Sister, Aunt, and Nina. Ana is survived by her children Victoria (Bob) Ruiz, Barbara (Sidney) Guardado, Pat (Dennis) Hughes, Manny Ruiz III, John (Otila) Ruiz, Andrew Ruiz, and Gabriel Ruiz, 17 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
Ana is survived by her sister, Delores Rodriguez and preceded in death by her other siblings, William Valverde, Robert Valverde, Florentino Valverde, and Angela Oliva.
Ana was a compassionate and loving spirit. She was known for traveling around town, dropping off goodies and food for her loved ones.
She had a passion for going to the Casinos and playing Bingo. She was an avid sports fan, always sporting San Francisco Giants and 49er's gear. The rest of her wardrobe showed her homage to Mickey Mouse
Ana will be remembered for her joy of life, quick wit, and signature farewell, “See you later, alligator. After a while crocodile".

A visitation for Ana will be held Monday, September 25, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St, Stockton, California 95202. A rosary will occur Monday, September 25, 2023, at 5:30 PM, 601 N California St, Stockton, California 95202. A mass of Christian burial will occur Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. George's Catholic Church, 120 W. 5th Street, Stockton, California. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane & Highway 99, Lodi, California.
