

Ann Charlotte Hildebrand, a beloved wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 85 in Stockton, California. Ann was a woman of elegance, kindness, and resilience who left an unforgettable mark on the lives of all who knew her. Ann now joins her late husband of 52 years, Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Hildebrand, with whom she shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless treasured memories.
Ann was born in Minneapolis, MN to Dr. Louis O'Brien and Wanda on February 1, 1939, Ann lived a life defined by compassion, adventure, and devotion to her family. She was the proud mother of two children, Alison Whittle (Barry) and Steve Hildebrand (Gabby), who were her constant sources of pride and joy.
Ann is survived by her children, Alison (Barry) and Steve (Gabby); her brothers, Timothy and Thomas O'Brien; her beloved grandchildren, Zack Asborno, Megan DeVore (Zak Andris), Bella Hildebrand, Aidan Hildebrand; and her cherished great-grandchild, Harley Andris.
A lifelong learner, Ann earned her bachelor's degree from Mills College in Oakland, California, a reflection of her dedication to education and personal growth. Her career was equally inspiring she was a medical laboratory technician and successfully ran a travel agency, sharing her passion for exploration by helping others create lifelong memories through travel.
Ann embraced an active and fulfilling life, finding joy in bicycling, skiing, and backpacking with the Sierra Club. Her adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were matched only by her appreciation for the arts and culture, which she celebrated through her involvement with the Haggin Museum, The Stockton Symphony, and The Stockton Civic Theatre.
In addition to her professional and personal achievements, Ann was deeply committed to giving back to her community. She was actively involved in fundraising efforts with ALSSOA (ALS Society of America) and Junior Aide, organizations where she dedicated her time and energy to support meaningful causes and strengthen her community.
A dedicated member of the Girl Scouts, Ann was a role model for leadership and community service, instilling these values in others and making a lasting impact on the lives of many young women.
Her legacy lives on in her family and the many lives she touched with her wit, wisdom, and steadfast support. Ann will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a beacon of grace and inspiration.
