

Audrey Wu was born in Nanning, China, the daughter of Dr. Cheng Chong Hou and Sophie Hsueh Fei Ho-Wu. She spent her early childhood in Guangzhou (formerly Canton) and Hong Kong before moving to Taiwan in 1951. She earned a bachelor's degree in History from Chinese Culture University in Taipei in 1968. The following year, she immigrated to the United States and enrolled at Holy Names University in Oakland, where she earned a master's degree in History.
For over 30 years, Audrey taught students in the Stockton Unified School District at campuses including Wilson Elementary School and the former Valenzuela Multilingual-Multicultural School. In 2006, she was honored as Distinguished Teacher of the Year by the University of the Pacific chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International, a professional organization for educators.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother, enthusiastic grandmother, dedicated teacher, international traveler, avid gardener, and cat person.
Audrey passed away at age 77 at Summerfield Memory Care in Stockton on May 14, 2023. The cause of death was progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a rare brain disorder.
She is survived by her husband Henry Wu; their daughters Pamela Wu and Tiffany Wu; grandchildren Eric, Naomi, and Roxy; and brothers Joseph Hou and David Hou.

A memorial service for Audrey will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, California 95219.
