Claude was always a true gentleman and a wise mentor. He had the good fortune to live a long and highly productive life. Profound sympathy to his family at his loss. He will be greatly missed by all.

If I may echo Judge Holland's beautiful tribute, my family was saddened by the news of Claude's recent passing. While I have known Claude my whole life, he was especially kind and encouraging to me as a young attorney. He will be dearly missed by the Harrington family.

Susan and I were saddened to hear of Claude’s passing. His integrity and leadership inspired many, me included.

When I joined the Kroloff firm in 1986, I was placed in a tiny closet directly across the hallway from Claude’s office. I did not know it, but the placement was not accidental. Claude took an interest; he wanted to keep an eye on me and, I realized later, to offer guidance. Almost each day, Claude would look in and motion me to follow him across the hall to his large and comfortable redoubt. Sometimes he just wanted to chat; other times he asked what I was working on. Always, he asked how I was doing, about my family, about my life away from law. He made it clear that I was part of the Kroloff family.

When I had a success, he was there to express congratulations; when I stumbled, he offered perspective. When, some years later, I was appointed to the Superior Court, no one was happier than Claude.

Not merely a lawyer’s lawyer, Claude was also a remarkably thoughtful, caring, kind and decent person. He was the sort of citizen, colleague, mentor and friend who brought out the best in those fortunate to know him. Claude’s legacy will endure.

My (and Susan’s) condolences to Barbara and family members.
Our prayers are with you.

Take care and God bless.

Hon. Lesley Holland (Ret.)
