Diane Alayne Castro (Galvez) passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2017 in Stockton, California at the golden age of 70. Diane was often referred to as "Dinky" by family and friends as she was always very petite.
Diane spent several years living in Winnemucca, Nevada in Humboldt County, working in the restaurant industry. She enjoyed the small town atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and quickly became one of the locals.
She loved to take road trips with her Aunties where, in her words, "we would laugh so hard!" She loved playing games such as gin rummy, mahjong and bingo as well as reading, dining out and her all time favorite… Dessert! Once she was introduced to the fine art of "binge" watching, the theme song from Blue Bloods became a familiar tune. Diane fought several illnesses, but in the end it was lung cancer that ended her life. Diane`s last moments were serene and peaceful as she was comforted, surrounded by her three daughters, granddaughters and her siblings.
Diane is survived by her daughters, Gina Hall, Celeste Gardea and Denise Casillas. Diane is also survived by her siblings, Gerard Galvez from Rocklin, William Bills from Lodi, Melanie Bills and Debra Donahue both residing in Stockton. Diane had 7 grandchildren and 3 great grand-children as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Diane's son in laws Tony, Mario, and Anthony also showed continued support during Diane's illness.
DeYoung Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Castro family. There will be an Inurnment on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of San Joaquin for their wonderful care they provided to Diane in her final days and the kindness and support they showed to the family.
