

March 28, 1929 – January 31, 2017 Donald “Don” Fred Chiapale of Stockton, Ca., at the age of 87, crossed the Great River and entered the Glory of the Lord, on January 31, 2017. He passed peacefully with his family around him, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center (Stockton) due to complications after a stroke. Don was born in Stockton, CA to Fred and Hollis Chiapale. His is survived by his devoted wife Barbara, four daughters- Karen Chiapale (Dennis-Stockton), Athena Chiapale (Modesto), Tammy Chiapale-Rykert (Joe-Modesto), and Madonna Chiapale (Randy, Pana, Illinois). Also his sister Marilyn Burns (Don (deceased) Lodi), her son Robert (Stockton), daughter Kathy (Dennis- Stockton), and is predeceased by his sister Joanne Smith (Stockton). Don had 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. He is survived by his mother-in-law Hedy Albert Burgi (Manteca), sisters and brothers in law, Pat & Frank Gwerder (Elk Grove), Frank & Linda Albert (Manteca), and several nieces and nephews. Don and Barbara enjoyed traveling the world over making wonderful memories. At 15 years of age Don joined the Merchant Marines. He then joined the Army Air Force- proudly serving his country in the Korean War. Returning home he achieved his AA degree from Humphrey’s College (Stockton) in Accounting and Business Admin. He worked for Central Valley Hardware of Stockton for nearly 20 years. He then worked for Donner Manufacturing Co. as a Manufacturer’s Rep to the builders hardware industry leading to starting his own rep business representing 7 major lines. He did that the rest of his career nearly 55 years. Don loved the outdoors – camping with his kids, hunting and fishing. He was also a semi professional bowler. He also loved golf and played in numerous tournaments. He was a long time member of the Waterloo Gun & Bocce Club of Stockton, San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, American Legion, VFW, SIRS, and USGA. Don was a man of integrity, determination, and grit – truly a man’s man. He was highly revered in the industry of his career thus his great success. Most importantly, he was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. His passing leaves a great void in the family and friends who loved him. Services for Don will be at St. Patricks Catholic Church (Escalon) at (date-time), followed by interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
