Her immediate family consists of daughter Cherrie Roeser of Stockton, daughter Susan Sather (Michael) of Stockton, daughter Mary Hammond of Sacramento, daughter Janey Roeser (Robert) of South Lake Tahoe, son William of Fresno (Lori), son John of Reno (Felicia), son Thomas of Elk Grove (Susan). Eva was born in Devon, Kansas, pursued her surgical nursing schooling in Omaha and performed her nursing at the Presbyterian Hospital of Chicago, Illinois, where she met her husband-to-be, Dr. Erwin Roeser. Eva and her husband moved to Stockton in 1950 where her husband established a surgical practice of 40 years, and together they raised a total of seven children. For those that knew Eva, they witnessed the love of God, for Eva was a devout and obedient servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s earthly disciple, she was deeply involved in the life of the congregation and our community through the First Presbyterian Church of Stockton. Eva very much embodied the Fruits of the Holy Spirit: joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Eva was a role-model to all her family. Eva had a deep and abounding servant’s heart and loved to see the beauty of God’s creation wherever she was. She was an avid Bible scholar, Sunday school teacher, and Bible study leader.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Eva’s life on February 16th at 1PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Stockton, located at 31 E. Vine Street (95202). In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Stockton or to St. Mary's Dining Hall, 545 W. Sonora St., 95203.
