There is something special in being a twin that is different  from having a regular sibling.  At conception, an unspoken, unbreakable bond is created  when  a mother's womb is shared.
     Gail was born first on April 13, 1987 to our parents, Genebeth and Ramir Sr.  I followed a minute later. This would ultimately set the dynamic in our relationship. Gail wasn't simply just my twin sister.  She would never miss the opportunity to remind me or anyone around she was the elder guardian between us.  Fundamentally, she was my first protector, guide and best friend. 
     Her sisterly love extended to all her friends whom she also considered her family. She would make time just for a cup of coffee to lend an ear. Gail always put others  before herself and was a very forgiving person.  
   She loved books  and films with headstrong, female leads who found romance, love or happy endings despite many hardships.    People would look to her for advice on events  she herself  had never experienced as her wisdom knew no bounds.
      As an adult she became the glue that held our family and friends together.  She loved to cook and try out new food.  It became a tradition each holiday that she prepped the main dishes such as turkey and stuffing for Thanksgiving. She loved going out to try new restaurants with my parents on  weekends.  She made sure to remind me of birthdays, anniversaries and other important events.
     Loss is a part of life, however, you never expect a child to pass before their parents or a sibling  to pass while still young.  To lose a twin  is to lose a part of yourself, a piece of your identity that became a part of you from the moment you were born. 
    Gail, you will be deeply missed but not forgotten. Your goofy laughter, indomitable spirit,  and love will forever be a part of us. Till we meet again at your moon palace in heaven.  Rest in peace.  Mom, Dad and I love you.

Today we said goodbye to our beautiful friend Gail-Victoria Sta Romana Galela.  She was truly amazing and the most genuine, kind-hearted person I've ever known.  I will cherish our memories together forever.  My heart still breaks and I can't help but wonder why God took her so soon.  I know she's watching over her family and friends now.

We remember with love and prayers our first niece, Gail.  She was a devoted daughter, a lovely girl full of life and dreams.  She loved to cook and bake, and delighted in experimenting with culinary masterpieces.  She also loved literature, books, the movies.
    She was about to settle in marital bliss when the Lord called her.  She gave much happiness to her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and brother.
The first "apo" on our side of the family. 
The eldest pinsan/pakaisa among our children,  together with her twin, Ramir-Paolo.  We celebrate her life and treasure the memories.  The good Lord in His wisdom decided to take another angel.  Goodbye, Gail.  Till we meet again.  Hug our loved ones there for us.

Palangga, last Jan 2, 2026 we had a mass at Presentation to remember the 1st year  anniversary  of the date our Lord Saviour Jesus Christ had claimed you back as His own.  We miss you and long to have you back again,  but this longing to hug and kiss you,  have you among us even  for just a single fleeting moment,  is overtaken by rejoicing -   knowing you have eternal joy, peace and rest with Him, and are among His angels and saints as well as  with our Holy Mother Mary in His heavenly kingdom!  We are grateful for the 37 years he had loaned us,  you.

I can't believe that I was planning a maid of honor speech for you, and now I'm writing this...but the problem is still how to encapsulate everything that you mean to me.
  We met when we were 8 years old - bonded by our love for books and boys( specifically, the Backstreet Boys).   We spent everyday together at  the library, had sleepovers where we ate too many cheetos, walked each other through the awkward stages of puberty and even more awkward stages of adulthood. You are not just my best friend, you are my sister.  I am so lucky to have benefited from having you in my life.  You had the most admirable qualities - you loved others unconditionally, you were selfless and caring, you were smart and goofy beyond measure, and you had the very best laugh.  You were my comfort and my rock, and for that I am so grateful.
   I still read our texts over and over, trying to feel close to you.  Man, I really wish you didn't have to go.  I'll love you forever Gaily.
