He was born on October 24, 1936, In Chicago, Illinois to Anton and Sophie Sadek. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret “Peg” Sadek; sister Lillian (the late Raymond) Goodwin; and children Margaret “Peggy” (Sam) Romero, Michael (Michelle) Sadek, Joseph Sadek, and Mary Carlson. He was preceded in death by children Anthony Sadek and Peter Sadek, and siblings Louise (the late Anthony) Belli and Richard (the late Margaret, and Katarznya “Kasai”) Sadek.
He graduated from St. Rita of Cascia High School and the Illinois Institute of Technology (chemical engineering) in Chicago. While he was a loyal employee and retiree of Corn Products, he had two primary passions in his life: his family, including six children, 14 grandchildren, siblings and in-laws, and his many nieces and nephews; and his beloved game of golf. He taught all his children how to play golf, and the course was a source of connection and community for many whom he loved. When not working, golfing, or running errands, he could be found in his chair smoking his pipe. He was a quiet person, but when he spoke, he revealed a thoughtful, observant, and philosophical nature grounded in morals. He set the example for his children by doing the right thing both in private and in public. He never spoke ill of other people but rather elevated those around him through his words and deeds. He was a devoted Catholic, being an active member of each parish to which he belonged. He and Peg were committed to a high-quality education for their children and put them all through Catholic elementary and high schools. While he lived in California for as many years as he lived in Chicago, he was a Chicagoan at heart and lived to see his Chicago Cubs win a world series. We are grateful to the wonderful care provided by the staff at O’Connor Woods and by Hospice of San Joaquin.
