Gertrude Irene Kurey was born in Stockton, California where she lived for 103 years. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Anna Ruggles, sister Jean Marie Skinner, her husband Michael Kurey and son Jim Kurey.
“Trudy” attended Jackson School, Stockton High School, and Business School. As a child Trudy was known for her talents. She played the piano and was featured in the Stockton Record for making a quilt when she was three years old. She was a member of the Native Daughter of the Golden West. In later years, Trudy volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph Hospital. Was a past President of Philomethian Club and was a Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts of America. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and loved her fishing outings to Highland Lakes. She enjoyed collecting vintage dolls and thimbles.
She is survived by her children, Mike Kurey, Jr., Joan Kurey Rivard, Jon Kurey, Susan Kurey Farrens, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
A visitation for Gertrude will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Dr, Stockton, California 95219. A mass of christian burial will occur Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 3847 N Sutter St, Stockton, CA 95204. A committal will occur Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:45 AM at Cherokee Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 14165 Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.
