My dearest Gracie girl! She was absolutely the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. I was blessed to meet her at the ripe age of 94. I have so many memories and stories to share. She is deeply missed, and she was loved by everyone. Her beautiful red hair, and lipstick to match. Tennis stories and stories of New Zealand were my favorite. I love and miss you so much Gracie girl. I’ll keep an eye on dear sweet Bobby.

Mourning the six month anniversary of your Mom's passing, I wanted to honor her life, and share some of my dear "Grandma Gracie" memories with you. 

Your beloved Mother, was, and remains to this day, one of the most prominent women in my life, and is also known as my one and only "adopted grandmother”.  I never understood the meaning of "adopted" until later in life, most likely because she made it so seamless that no one ever knew the difference. Grandma Gracie's role in my life was one characteristic only of a biological grandmother. From the day i was born Grandma Gracie was always present, sharing every one of life's milestone's with me, from my first steps, to sitting front row at all my piano recitals, to perm'ing my hair because she wanted to (I was under 10…and of course later, she witnessed me trying to style my own hair by cutting off one of my pigtail braids, with her hair cutting scissors!), to practicing on the backboard at Uop's tennis courts for endless hours so I would have a strong back-hand, and of course, teaching me how to garden (planting all those beautiful flowers at your home, and at her home), make her famous fudge candy annually, and her oatmeal cookies, to all my school plays, dance recitals, and as the years passed, all my graduations. 

Grandma Gracie was a light in my life. Whenever I was presented with life's trials, she was there to remind me how much she loved me, and how much both of my parents loved me and that that was all that mattered. 
When Grandpa Bob went on his permanent fishing vacation in the sky, I was living in Los Angeles, and it became more difficult to stay in as close contact with my Grandma. We tried talking on the phone, but her hearing was not so good, and, I talked too fast and still am not the best annunciator. So we began writing letters to one another, where I would update her on my life, and work, and of course, when I got my first puppy. She would write and tell me about all the adventures of her kitty kat, and of course what you, Bobby were up to. I always visited her when I came back to town, which, regrettably, the visits were far and few between, but she was never upset and was always so happy I would come see her and she was always so proud of my small victories at my young age- graduating from college, passing my real estate sales license, and, landing a sales position in the company's flagship office in Beverly Hills, all by the age of 23.

I moved back to Stockton in 2012. Grandma Gracie's health problems were worsening, but she was still the bright bubbly happy go lucky Grandma that I always knew, and will never forget. She never let me come visit her without advance notice- so she had her hair done and makeup on (I don't think I ever left her home, without a big kiss mark from her hot pink lipstick on my cheek). :) 

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't fondly think about my Grandma Gracie. She is missed greatly, but I know that she is on Heaven's tennis court, pruning her flower bushes, and baking her fudge.  She will forever be my light, watching over me, my guardian angel. My Grandma Gracie. 

So, as she used to say- “xoxo, love you so much”.

And, to you, Grandma Gracie, until we meet again, I love you.

Dear Bobby - As you will know your mum Grace was loved best friend of my mothers ( Lexie Clouston- nee Glasgow) sister Jean Glasgow from Turakina New Zealand. Grace and Jean were inseparable best friends until Jeans tragic death when she was 18 years old. Your mother was so beautiful and I have many lovely photo's of her in early days when she really was part of the Glasow/ Grant families. My parents and my dear old aunts are all gone now but Grace and the Brennen family will allways be remembered.I know Grace had a special place in her heart for those wonderful early days. Grace will now see you're dad and Jean again. Grace had such love for you and your dad, and spoke often about you. Love from Viv Chapman, Turakina, New Zealand

Bob, we were so very sad to hear about Auntie Grace.  She was a very special lady and we loved her heaps. She loved life and touched those she came into contact with.  Our visits to see you all left us with many fond memories.   We will miss her dearly.

Dear Bobby (that's how I knew you),
I am hopes that this message will be of comfort to you and your family.  I don't know where to start but here goes: I grew up living next door to you, at 2801 Bonnie Lane. Your Mother touched my heart in many ways, but one fond memory was "Candy Day" (that was each Wed.) Every Wednesday all the kids in the neighborhood showed up at your house while Gracie passed out Candy.  After you arrived, along with receiving our candy, we were aloud  to see "Baby Bobbie"!(Quietly, and not for very long).  I worked for your Father later in life as a secretary of Earnst & Loyd, Walter Hackman and Robert Seigfried.  Throughout the years whenever I ran into your Mother or Father they were always happy to see me and visit. Gracie always called me "little Candy".  My name is Candace Auten.  My parents owned the Pump Room Restaurant here in Stockton, but you are probably too young to remember that.
Both of your parents touched my heart in many ways and I am sure they are laughing and going over old times with my parents now.  I am hopeful this note is comforting to you at this difficult time.

Hello Bob, So sorry to hear about your mom. I am Gina's friend who took care of your mom for a short while, a few years ago. Your mom is with your Dad now & happier than she's been in a long time.
