It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of a beloved father, brother, and partner, J Jesus Carranza Solorio. He was born on September 26, 1963, in El Tigre, Zinaparo, Michoacán, and entered eternal rest after turning 63. Born to Jose Vicente Carranza Estrada and Maria Soledad Solorio Sanchez, he was the youngest of 7 siblings.
After migrating to the US at 17, he spent most of his life working in the fields. In his early adulthood, he and his dear brother Salvador often traveled to other states, such as Washington and Oregon, following each new season and its crops. A few years later, he would meet the person who would become his lifelong partner of over 40 years, and whom he would affectionally refer to as “socia”, Gabriela Vargas Vasquez. Together, they relocated from Lodi to what would be their home for the last 22 years in Stockton. Bound by a tender love, they welcomed their only daughter, Karina Carranza-Vargas.
Although he did not excel in school, he was a man of wisdom. He was not afraid to face any challenge presented to him, took the time to learn English as he established his new life in the States, and always offered a helping hand. Jesus lived his life with one thing in mind always: his family and those closest to him. Despite numerous challenges presented to him throughout life, he was undoubtedly a fighter. The same courage his daughter has inherited.
Jesus had a well-rounded personality and likings. He found joy in things such as horse race betting, gardening, cooking, blasting his phone or speaker all the way, and singing along to artists of his liking such as Valentin Elizalde, Alfredo Olivas, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, Camilo Sesto, and more. Aside from trying to show his muchacha (affectionately called her his ratona) one or two dance moves, there was nothing more like being at home, watching a good soccer game, old novels, or older films in the company of his family.
Simple favorites – comida del panda, gansitos, and taquitos de lengua now carry warm memories of him. Those who knew him can recall him never leaving home without wearing 4 things: a baseball cap, shades, jeans, and boots.
Jesus was preceded in death by both parents and siblings: Jose, Audela, and Reynaldo. He is survived by his remaining siblings: Ramiro, Salvador, Ruben & Refugio, daughter Karina, and life partner Gabriela.
His life may have ended sooner than he expected, but his legacy will continue through his daughter, siblings, family, and extended family whose lives he touched and will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
