Jane Mah

Jane Mah was born February 23, 1923 in Canton, China. Her Chinese name was Ko Kit Chun. She was born to parents, Fong Kan Leung and Lim Sam Tin. Jane passed away and went to Heaven peacefully with family surrounding her on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Jane accepted Jesus Christ into her life and expressed looking forward to one day seeing her family in Heaven. She was the youngest of ten siblings of five brothers and five sisters. Her family had been in the grocery store business for a couple of generations.

In school, her favorite subjects were floral arrangement and sports. Her favorite sport was ping pong where she excelled and became the champion of her province still beating any opponent at age 60. She was a self-taught chef who cooked the best light crispy jian dui.

Jane came to America in 1948 when she was 25. She worked as a waitress while attending English classes. She married Stanley Fook Mah in 1953 and they became a family along with Stanley’s son Steve. They moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon to start their own restaurant, The Anchor Grill where each worked twelve hour shifts. She gave birth to Connie Mah (1954) and Norman Mah (1955). She was dedicated to her husband and children and showed it through her cooking fantastic multi-course Chinese family dinners. Eventually, in 1960 the family moved to Stockton, California. She was widowed in 1966 and had to work hard to support the family by working in the cannery and as an agricultural field worker until her retirement.

Jane is known for her sense of humor and ability to cook and enjoy good food. She traveled extensively to Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe with her daughter Connie. She enjoyed social gatherings and being around family. Jane accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and is a Christian. Her family and friends have always appreciated her generous spirit when in her presence.

Jane is survived by her son Norman Mah (Deedee), daughter Connie Mah and step-son Steve Mah (Jeanie). She especially loved her surviving grandchildren Eric, Jason, Ryan, Zachary and Jameson and always gave them money or gifts upon each of their visits. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to attend her funeral service at Deyoung Shoreline Chapel in Stockton, CA on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:30 pm. Procession burial to follow at the Stockton Chinese Cemetery with a longevity meal following at the China Palace Restaurant. We are eternally greatful for all the family and friends Jane has had. We will miss her dearly.
