John A. Cardona
December 27, 1924 – March 6, 2023

John A. (Alvarez) Cardona, 98 passed away, on March 6, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by family. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Epifania, June 02, 2022.
John was born on December 27, 1924 to Natividad and Maria Cardona in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. They eventually settled in Brentwood, California where John attended Liberty High School. During WWII, John served in the United States Army. He retired as a Marine Ship Clerk after 46 years of service at the Ports of Stockton and Sacramento. He was a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 34.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Sonia R. Mountjoy (Chris) and Brenda C. Castellanos (Rick); 6 grandchildren, Lisa Wilson, Michael Wilson, Analise Feliciano (Hernanie “JR”), Sabrina Hernandez (Thomas), Christopher Mountjoy and Courtney Mountjoy-Reza (Alighieri “Ali”); 7 great-grandchildren, Laila and Maya Hernandez, Amelia and Aiyla Feliciano, Coralynn, Cerabeth and Clayton Mountjoy. John is also survived by numerous Nephews and Nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruno Cardona and 5 sisters, Annie Forsythe, Sally Vigil (Nick), Lucille Maes (Dave), Frances Constancio (Ray) and Mary Dutra (Alfred).
Visitation will be at DeYoung Memorial Chapel located at 601 N. California Street, in Stockton on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 2:00-6:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate John’s life will be held at the Church of Presentation, located at 6715 Leesburg Place in Stockton at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He will be laid to rest immediately following the Mass at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, located at 719 E. Harding Way in Stockton.
John will be greatly missed but the memory of his entertaining sharp wit and his love for his family will last in the hearts of all that loved him.
