John Gino Giovannoni was called to heaven on January 3, 2019 at the age of 71. John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Judy Giovannoni, their children Gina and Ricky Giovannoni, daughter in-law Carmen Giovannoni and his grandchildren Marissa Giovannoni, Kyle Giovannoni and Rylan Giovannoni. He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Eileen Giovannoni and his brother Eugene Giovannoni Jr. John was born February 6, 1947 in Stockton, California. He attended Stagg high school where he graduated in 1965. After the completion of high school John enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1966 and served until 1970. While enlisted in the Air Force John married the love of his life Judy Giovannoni in 1967. After the completion of his service in the US Air Force John began his career in the transportation industry with the Western Pacific Railroad in 1970. This was a passion of John's and continued to work for the Western Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad's for the next 20 years until his department moved out of state. Being the family man that John was he made the choice to change careers in order to keep his family in Stockton, Ca. Over the next eighteen years John worked for Tuolumne County Sherriff's Department, C.H. Robison and Riss Intermodal. In 2008 John returned to his calling and went to work for the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE Train). For the next ten years John would continue to work for ACE and would finish his career July 31, 2018 retiring from Altamont Corridor Express.

John was a Little League and Babe Ruth Coach who enjoyed coaching and making a difference in the lives that he came into contact with. In his leadership roles John had a way of using his sense of humor to teach while still holding those accountable with the task at hand. This is one reason why John was so loved by those who knew him.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play their sports.

I worked with John at the San Joaquin regional rail commission for 13 years and became really Great friends. I’ll never forget when John sent flowers to my mothers funeral you will always have a special place in my heart and I’ll always remember the times early in the morning when we would head off to Pleasanton at 3 AM to try to catch those carpoolers. I will miss you John and I will see you again up in heaven and remember you can have all the Dr. peppers you want now .love you buddy !

My wife Becky, worked with John pretty often. He nicknamed her "Cool." When sometimes I had the car and came to pick her up, John and I would chat awhile if we had time. Similar backgrounds, the USAF, I once was an engineer for SP/UP. We had things to chat about. I appreciated the chats, and the good working relationship he had with Becky. He was a great manager in that he had his people's backs. It's a military thing I think.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Gina, we'll likely see you at Kaiser sometime.

God speed John G. You are surely missed.

Dear Mrs, Giovannoni, children and grandkids, you all have my deepest condolences for your loss. My prayers are with you all during these hard times.
I worked with John on the railroad and he was always such a sweet, kind, caring, a joy to work with and a good friend that I will deeply miss. John was just a very good friend to me and I enjoyed his laughter, his kind words and talking to him about my grandkids as well as John talking to me on how he was so very proud of his grandkids.
My heart breaks just the thought that I’ll never get to hear his voice, jokes, and stories or ever hear from my dear friend again. 💔 My husband also worked for the railroad and he will miss John and his talking politics with him.
Again you all have my deepest condolence! God bless you and our prayers are with you all during these hard times. 🙏🙏
