John Leonard Hernandez, a devoted brother, uncle, faithful servant of God, and cherished friend, entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2026, at the age of 56. Born in Stockton, California, on March 30, 1970, John lived a life rooted in faith, family, and compassionate service to others.
He obtained an Associate of Arts degree from San Joaquin Delta College, and made a career as a sales representative in the paint industry for over 30 years. As a devout Catholic, his deep and unwavering trust in God guided every chapter of his life, inspiring others around him.
John’s greatest joy was his family, especially the moments spent laughing and sharing stories with his nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Warm and quick-witted, he had a natural gift for lifting spirits and making people laugh and feel loved. He was a lifelong, passionate sports fan, forever faithful to the San Francisco 49ers, and possessed a deep passion for music. For the last 45 years, John shared his musical talent playing percussion alongside his brothers in their family band, a bond he cherished until his passing. He also enjoyed listening to many diff erent types of genres of music. His warmth, humor, and faithful heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St, Stockton, California 95202, on August 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, followed by the Rosary at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St, Stockton, California 95202, on August 10, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 203 E Washington St, Stockton, California 95202, on August 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E Harding Way, Stockton, California 95204, on August 11, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Robert Hernandez, Alfonso Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Victor Hernandez, David Hernandez, Cameron Hernandez, Joaquin Hernandez, and Sokvan “Kwan” Tuy.
