Joseph "Jojo" Paciano Quilantang 08/09/01 - 02/26/16 Jojo began his battle with cancer on December 20, 2007 when he was six years old. After surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, Jojo was in remission for about seven years. It came back in October 8, 2014, and later on September 28, 2015. No matter how many obstacles he encountered--whether it be nausea, headaches, neutropenic or homework--he kept fighting until his last breath. On Friday, February 26, 2016, heaven gained an angel. Jojo was an inspiration to many. He was a loving and caring young man. He was smart, funny and a joy to be around. He was silly but also cool. He's unforgettable with an infectious smile. He really did touch a lot of people no matter where he was. He was a good person inside and out. He never complained. He was awesome and selfless. Overall, he was a warrior. When it came to music, Jojo enjoyed playing his Ukulele. Whenever Jojo was in Oakland, he would walk up and down the hallway playing his ukulele for other pediatric patients. In band, he played the trombone, baritone, messed around with the drums and tried the saxophone. Because of his love for music, he also loved to sing his heart out. At times he'd get on the dance floor. Jojo learned Tahitian dancing with Tamari'i Mata'irea and participated in San Jose Tahiti Fete in 2012 and 2015. He enjoyed attending family parties. He also liked swimming and going on bike rides. Jojo absolutely loved to eat. He adored anime and his favorite character was "Happy" from Fairy Tail. While attending McNair High School he was a part of the Anime Club. He liked collecting weapons of all sorts. Jojo always wanted to make everyone happy, even when his parents didn't agree. He loved his sisters, Aleena and Myla. He enjoyed attention especially from his huge family, extended family and friends. He was a great friend--the best son, brother and grandson. Jojo is survived by his sisters, Alena and Myla; his parents, Leahua, Joe and step-mother Dezarae; his grandparents, Bruce "Butch" Vaba, Gina Vaba, Aurora Martinez, Tim Quilantang Sr. and Florence Quilantang.

God is wonderful and has a wonderful way of using people to carry out His mission. As a result of JoJo's illness, many people began a relationship with God. They prayed, believed and trusted God as they watched JoJo and the family lean close to God for health and strength. I am one of those individuals who's faith was strengthen during JoJo's illness. I saw in JoJo a remarkable young man who reflected God in his life and was a hero of faith. My thoughts and prayers are with the family!

My sincerest thoughts go out to Jojo's mother, father, and his whole family. I'm a friend of Joe and Dezarae's and can't imagine the pain that comes with the loss of your child. Jojo was such a joy to be around- always so positive and thoughtful of others. You all raised a beautiful boy. What a beautiful obituary to honor his life. Cynthia Trujillo
