Joy Dean Greenlee passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Heavener Oklahoma to her parents Berry Jones and Alma Hunsucker. Joy was the third child of 7 children who relocated at a young age to Stockton where she met her husband of 65 years, Curtis Greenlee. Joy and Curtis soon started their family and life together at a young age with their children of Gary, Jimmy, and Deborah.
Joy took enormous pride in being a ground-breaking woman who was 100% mom as well as an accomplished business professional. In her “spare” time, Joy was also active in local politics working on election campaigns. An avid golfer. She belonged to several women’s golfing groups. She enjoyed playing golf into her 80’s.
She attended most of the grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved watching Joseph play golf, Brande swim and Carrie play Volleyball. She was proud and I know at times would brag about their accomplishments.
At home, Joy was everyone’s mom. All her kid’s friends wanted to hang out at the Greenlee’s to experience her loving care and great culinary talents. Joy was widely renowned for her pies. Professionally, Joy was an early office employee of Diamond Walnut Growers. Then moved onto the State of California (Cal Trans). Retired in 1982. She missed her work at the state and returned a second time for a few more years.
Joy will be remembered by her son Gary (Jane) Greenlee and daughter Deborah (Jack) Cartmell. She is also survived 3 grandchildren: Brande (Jeff) Voss, Carrie (Daniel) Sulak and Joseph Greenlee. 4 great grandsons: Tyler and Trevor Voss, Max and Luke Sulak. She is also remembered by her brother David Jones and sister Bonnie Mobley. Predeceased in death by husband Curtis Greenlee, son Jimmy Greenlee and grandson Jimmy Greenlee Jr.
Services for Joy will be held at DeYoung Chapel Shoreline, 7676 Shoreline Dr. Stockton, Ca on Tuesday, Sept 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
