Kenneth Jay Benjamin

Ken is survived by his loving wife, RoseMarie “Rose”; children Daniel Benjamin (Delores) of California; Krystal McCarty (Gary) of Texas, Krystal Morris (Bud) of Kentucky, and his older brother Leo Benjamin (Betty Jo) of Kentucky. His name, legacy and stories will be carried on by his 11 grandchildren which he proudly adored and shamelessly bragged about to anyone that would listen.

Ken is predeceased by his parents, George Benjamin and Maggiev “Margie” Apalakis; and his siblings Shirley, Walter, Joseph, William (Willy) and Violet (Bunny).

Ken, the youngest of 7 children, was born on August 23, 1956, in Cambridge, Minnesota and spent his youth and young adulthood in Oakland, California acquiring countless defining experiences and lifelong friendships.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1975, which proved to be one of his fondest accomplishments and collection of memories. He believed “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”

Ken later settled in California’s Central Valley and thrived as a family-man and business owner (Ken Benjamin Painting) as he continued his pattern of creating long term friendships through acts of service and celebrations.

Ken loved cars and trucks of all types, but above all, Harley Davidson motorcycles. He embodied what it meant to be a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved the freedom of a solo cruise through the foothills to clear his mind. He could also be found roaring down country roads with close friends or participating in large group rides for numerous charitable causes, such as Toys for Tots and Hospice. He influenced many next generation family members to join the motorcycle community.

Nothing could top the love of his children and their accomplishments. Proud is a small word for how they made him feel.

Ken will be missed, remembered and spoken of frequently by countless friends, family and those he encountered along his journey. He leaves a life well lived, family well cared for and a wake of fun-loving memories.
