FROM THE FAMILY

Biography

Larry J. Lee was born in December 1950 to loving parents, Mr. Henry Lee and Mrs. Mary Lee, in French Camp, California. He attended schools in Stockton Unified School District, excelling in sports at the secondary level. After graduating from Franklin High School, he completed post-secondary education at San Joaquin Delta College and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a firefighter on the USS Oriskany.

He was married for 46 years to Dr. Farine Lee, Jurisdictional Supervisor of California North Central Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction COGIC. To this union was born two daughters, Mrs. Vernaya Lee-Sheilds and Attorney Rosalyn D. Lee. He was also a doting grandfather to Ezekiel Lee Sheilds and Elyse Dawn Sheilds.

Larry possessed great work ethic in his early years as a former employee of Bendex Forest Products and also during his 20-year tenure as a Correctional Officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. After retiring from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, he enjoyed completing landscaping projects, nurturing rare species of fish and collecting historical paintings. He was also a loyal, "die-hard" Raiders fan and was known for wearing exotic, snakeskin shoes.

Larry faithfully served at Eastside Church of God in Christ for over 40 years in the following capacities: Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board Member and Treasurer of the Finance Committee. Despite serving in leadership roles, he often volunteered to maintain the church grounds. He thoroughly enjoyed attending Sunday School, Bible Study and serving in the Men's Department.

His favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 32:27, which says, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?"

Deacon Larry J. Lee will be greatly missed, but his memory will be cherished forever.
