May God grant Linda (Granny) peace, love, and happiness in her new home!

In the absence of my parents, Linda instilled a good work ethic, the importance of quality time, and sincere love in my son, Pernell.  

After standing on her feet all day, she would come home to prepare a full course meal and tidy her home.  On the weekends she would plan for yet another week by washing her family’s clothes, buying groceries, and other chores.  One of Pernell’s most found memories is the fishing trips with his grandparents, Linda and Hakeem.  They taught him how to fish, clean and cook their fresh catch of the day.  Somehow, Linda managed to perform all these tasks with her polished hairdo, makeup and manicured nails – never out of place.  

Linda taught Pernell to take care of his family.  By the time Pernell entered high school his grandfather Hakeem became ill and he was there to help him.  We moved back to my hometown in Colorado and Pernell flew back to California to see Hakeem before his death.  Pernell flew back home again a few months ago to visit his Granny.  He fried chicken for her as she did for him for many years.  She expressed joy throughout his visit.  They watched television together, looked at the many photos she had collected over the years, and discussed his childhood.
