If I'm being completely honest, I can't remember the first time you stepped into my life. From what I knew, you'd always been there - my mother's younger brother. The tall one. The one who owned a motorcycle. What I do remember, is sitting at the kitchen counter with Inday, eating pandesal with butter, anxiously awaiting your arrival. Rumors spread that you bought us Disney's Alladin, on video cassette. Brand new, never used. And sure enough, on that fateful summer day of '92, you kept your promise. Signed, sealed, delivered.

Returning to California this last week was bittersweet. Half of me knew you wouldn't be there, while the other half expected you to walk through the door. I went through your old long sleeves like you had wanted. I chose the blue ones. Thank you. And while I'm at it, thank you for the Pokemon cards, Disneyland trips, and In N Out dinners. Thank you for my elementary school colored pencils. And for my first cell phone in high school - the one that I subsequently lost four days later in Washington DC, on Capitol Hill. Thank you for spoiling my mom, making us laugh, and always telling me the truth -- that I talk too much and that I am too crazy. My understanding of the word Uncle started with you. And it was defined by you. I love you Uncle Owen. Always have, always will.

I am grateful for your generosity and love for me and my Mom “ Neneng” Ester . I know that every time my mom gets mad at me during her usual 3-month vacay, she’ll make me drive and drop at your place until she calms down. Thank you for letting me call you Dad.. I wished I could have done more when you got sick but I am comforted knowing that you were surrounded by the people you love. Tita Luisa, Tita Panoy also extends their warmest condolence to your family. We all mourn for your passing and empathize with Tita Beth and Shawn that this is permanent. May you Rest In Peace. Love, Jen- jen and family.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Loel. His sister, my adopted daughter Myrna has been in my life for many years. I pray for his family and for Loel. May they all find peace and remember the good times they shared with Loel.

Loel was one of the best supervisors I have ever had who impacted my life positively in the very beginning when I started my Job, I transferred from another facility and they refused to pay me my last check because I transferred and sweet Loel cut me a check " on my new rate/ bonus" for work I had done in the previous facility and I was able to put food on my table for my family. May his Soul rest in heaven and may your family never lack as you always looked out for me ; always having my back when people put me in trouble. I pray for peace for this family during this troubling time like you always made sure that we did our Job with a peace of mind, never troubled anyone. My heart aches since I got this sad news. Rest in heaven I don't even have enough words to describe my sympathy only the good lord knows.

My heart breaks with the loss of my best friend. Nowhere could one find such a loyal, compassionate, caring, generous man as Loel. He lit up the room wherever he went. I will never forget all our memories inside and out of BHC. My prayers are with Elizabeth, Shawn and Myrna. He loved his family with a passion. It would be hard to find anyone that could fill his shoes. Gone way too soon. RIP my beautiful friend and may God comfort your family in this difficult time.
