Lorraine grew up on a farm in North Dakota then attended business college in nearby Minot. While working at a bank there, she met a dashing airman stationed at the nearby Air Force base. They married in 1954 and began their adventure together. Their first child was born in Minot and they subsequently were stationed in Chateauroux, France. They welcomed two more children after returning to North Dakota, then went on to Las Cruces, NM, Travis Air Force Base, CA then settled in Stockton, CA.
Lorraine embraced the opportunities of enjoying new places while wrangling three children. She enjoyed sewing for them and later her granddaughters. She was an excellent pie and cookie baker. After retiring from retail work, she enjoyed gardening, trying new recipes, her pets, traveling with Stan, and singing hymns with her daughter-in-law. Most cherished was time with her granddaughters, going to the bookstore, zoo and local parks, baking, bible school, and church then breakfast out. She loved helping-out at her church, VBS, and altar guild and the many friends she made there.
Lorraine’s family is especially thankful for the ministry and care she received from the pastors and staff of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, especially Bruce Kleinert, Pat and Harriet Doyle, and the Caring Partners group. We are also very thankful for her many patient and kind caregivers, most especially Ida Matlock and Divina Hoff.
A memorial service for Lorraine will be held Saturday, May 10, at 4:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Ave, Stockton, CA.
