

Michael "Mitch" Balderas, a cherished husband, devoted brother, and beloved friend, peacefully departed this world on April 20, 2026, at the age of 68. Born in Illinois on June 17, 1957, Mitch lived a life rich with love, service, and dedication to others.
Michael was born to Candelario Ramos and Eleanora (Balderas) Ramos. Later adopted by Ray & Alice Balderas. He was predeceased by his parent Candelario & Eleanora Ramos and Father Ray Balderas, brothers Miguel Ramos, Ricardo Ramos, and Johnny Ramos. He was a loving husband to Diana Buechele, whom he met while they both worked at John Muir Hospital. They married on September 2, 2018, and since their meeting in 2012, they have shared countless memories, laughter, and love.
Michael's life was a testament to service and compassion. After graduating from Los Banos High School, he served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1981. His commitment to protecting others continued through his career as a Federal Fireman for over two decades. Even after retiring, Michael found ways to serve his community by working in security, always ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him.
A man of many passions, Michael was an avid Raiders fan and a lover of music and history. He delighted in reading and watching programs that explored the past. His love for animals was equally profound, often bringing home strays in need of care a testament to his gentle and caring nature.
Michael's vibrant spirit made him a social butterfly; he loved engaging with people from all walks of life and was known for his generosity and kindness. He possessed an innate ability to connect with others, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Buechele; his mother, Alice Balderas; and his siblings: Rey Balderas (Norma), Christina Moore (Ron), Vincent Ramos, Fernando Ramos (Francis), Esteban Ramos (Mary), Cynthia Barron, Lydia Caudill (Steve), Grace McCullough, and Norman Ramos. Michael also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who cherished him deeply.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength. In remembering Michael, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, a heart full of love, and a legacy of generosity and protection.
