

Michael James Murray, age 72 passed away on Monday September 23, 2019. Michael was born July 19, 1947 to Dr. Saunders and Magdalene Murray in Los Angeles, California. Michael graduated from the Black Fox Military Academy and Rexford High School in Beverly Hills, California.
Michael enlisted in the Army in November, 1966. He served in South Vietnam from May 1, 1967 to April 30, 1968. Michael returned from Vietnam with two Purple Hearts and spent three months recovering at the Medical Holding Detachment Company in Fort Ord, California from wounds received in combat. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 21, 1969.
For almost all of his adult life, Michael worked in law enforcement. He spent time working in private security, as a private investigator, alarm/security system installation, and a dispatcher for a private security company. In 1981 he was hired as a police officer for the Stockton Police Department. He received a medical retirement in September, 1992. After a few years, he returned to law enforcement in the civilian position of Inmate Labor Specialist with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.
Michael was extremely proud to have served his country and to have been a part of law enforcement so he could serve his community. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing and watching the Food Network and NCIS. He was an avid cat lover.
Michael is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jim Huff and his grandson Michael Allen James Murray. He is survived by his sister, Saundra Huff, his wife of 33 years, Melissa Murray, his daughter Krista Murray, granddaughters Alexis, Kylie, Kara, and Makenna and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be missed.
A celebration of life for Michael will be held Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, California.
